On a hot summer day, kids just want to play in the water. And that’s what free public spray parks and splash pads are all about! Get ready to get your splash on at these awesome spots, from Seattle to the Eastside and North Sound.

Tip for families: We recommend double-checking the operating hours of a spray park on its website; there are occasional closures for cooler weather or other reasons.
Seattle-area spray parks and fountains

Seattle Parks and Rec plans to operate 12 spray parks for summer 2026. Each one will be open daily, 11 a.m.–8 p.m., depending on the weather, from Saturday, May 23, through Labor Day. Wading pool season begins June 27.
If the weather is not great, call Seattle’s wading pool hotline (206-684-7796) after 9:30 a.m. for spray park and wading pool status. You can also check Seattle Parks’ wading pool Facebook page. (And one note: Some spray features operate by push button, so you might not know with just a glance if the water is on or not.)
South Park Community Center
This newly renovated community center in Seattle boasts a brand-new spray park and playground that kids will love. Let the kids cool off in the summer sun under the colorful, whimsical water features, or burn off their energy climbing, sliding and running around. Bring bikes too, as the park has a flat, paved path.

Ballard Commons Park
This park, located in the heart of the Ballard neighborhood, features a skate bowl, spray feature, relaxing seating areas, a nautical playground and accessible walkways. When your kids are done splashing around, head across the street to the Ballard Library (after you dry off in the sunshine, of course). The park is located just two blocks off the main drag of Ballard, which offers many options for treats, meals or even a movie.

Northacres Park spray park
Just off I-5 in North Seattle, this shaded park is a big draw, and for good reason. Beyond the spray park, it boasts a fantastic two-part playground (for toddlers and older kids), hiking trails, a great hill to roll down and more. Only drawback: The parking lot can fill on hot days, though street parking is fairly easy to find.

Lake Union Park fountains
The series of fountains at Lake Union Park is just one of the draws at this awesome public space. Kids can also explore boat-building at the Center for Wooden Boats (or rent a boat), visit MOHAI (free for kids ages 14 and younger with a paying adult, and always free on First Thursdays), or take a dip at the small swimming beach.

Yesler Terrace Park spray park
This park and its fantastic hillside playground are a must for your summer bucket list. Part of the park’s central plaza becomes the spray park in warmer months. This park, next to the Yesler Community Center and developed with community input, also features space for soccer and basketball.

Jefferson Park spray park
The state-of-the-art water feature at Jefferson Park is part of Beacon Mountain, an ecologically oriented playscape. Kids will also love the steep and deep tube slides and biking paths; parents will love the view of the Sound and the Olympics from the park.

Georgetown Playfield spray park
Located in the heart of this artsy-industrial neighborhood, Georgetown Playfield boasts a fantastic playground, lots of big shade trees, and a spray park with many kinds of spray features. Also find a half basketball court and artificial turf soccer field.

Highland Park Playground spray park
Kids love the bucket dump at this spray pad located in this smallish park in West Seattle. There’s also a playground, upgraded sports fields, and picnic tables and benches. The park is situated in a residential area with lots of big, shady trees.

Pratt Park spray park
With an apartment complex located adjacent to Pratt Park, the park is busy, especially in the summer months. Beyond the spray area, find a playground, basketball court and picnic tables. Pratt Fine Arts Center is located next to the park, and the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Center is a short walk away. Tip: Broadcast Coffee Roasters is at the northeast corner of the park.

Judkins Park spray park
This large park in the Central District of Seattle offers play areas, a shelter, barbecues, basketball hoops, a skate park, multi-use courts and more. This park offers reservation picnic areas, so start planning your next summer gathering today!

Miller Community Center water feature
The Miller Community Center, located adjacent to Meany Middle School, offers a wide variety of community programs for all ages. Before you are soaked, head inside to check out the Miller Center’s artwork and learn more about the programs this great community center offers. The water feature is located near the front entrance to the building and the playground.

John C. Little, Sr. Park spray park
In addition to the spray park, this great park in South Seattle offers picnic shelters, a plaza and an expanded children’s play area. With lots of trees and grass there is space to spread out your picnic blanket and stay awhile. Be sure to check out the community garden. Located next to NewHolly, a diverse, mixed-income community, this park can be busy in the summertime.

Seattle Center International Fountain
The big kahuna of spray parks is Seattle Center’s famous International Fountain, open year-round, and — on hot days — crawling with kids who stand and run (usually screaming) from the fountain’s powerful and unpredictable water jets. Note that the steep slopes down to the center of the fountain can be pretty slippery. The thrilling Artists at Play playground, near MOPOP, is a must-visit spot on any Seattle Center trip.

South King County spray features and fountains

Tukwila Community Center spray park, Tukwila
This splash and spray park is located at Tukwila Community Center, with fish spouts to aim, fountains and other features.

Town Square Plaza fountain, Kent
The fountain in Kent’s Town Square Plaza has an unusual feature: a 13,000-pound granite ball sculpture that can be rotated in its base. Kids and adults alike enjoy giving it a spin.

Les Gove Park Rotary Spray Playground, Auburn
Colorful water-spray features make Les Gove Park one of the most popular spray parks in the region. When kids are done with water play, they can climb on the accessible Discovery Playground, or head to White River Valley Museum to explore the interactive exhibits, or nearby Mary Olson Farm (open weekends in summer).

Angle Lake Park spray park, SeaTac
This park has a beautiful swimming beach (note that lifeguards will not be on duty until later this summer — see the website for dates and hours), a playground, picnic shelters, a spray park and more! SeaTac airport is nearby, so your young aviator fans are sure to enjoy the close-up view of planes coming and going.

Eastside spray parks and fountains

Snoqualmie Community Park splash pad, Snoqualmie
This Pacific Northwest-themed splash pad opened just last year in Snoqualmie. It has a giant Sasquatch, a waterfall and plenty of opportunities to play in the water. The accessible design is perfect for all ages and abilities.

Crossroads Park spray park, Bellevue
Located in one of the Eastside’s most culturally diverse neighborhoods, this park is absolutely worth the drive. Beyond the super-appealing Northwest-themed spray park with a climbable orca, spitting frogs and clams, you’ll find a playground, walking trails, covered picnic shelters and even a nine-hole golf course.

Downtown Park spray park, Bellevue
Editor’s note: Be prepared for construction on your visit. A new permanent feature is being installed in Downtown Park, and construction is expected to last through June 12.
Incredible Inspiration Playground at Downtown Park is a destination for families any day. Add in a water feature for cooling off on warm summer afternoons and you’ve got a winner of an outing with kids. Find Molly Moon’s Ice Cream right around the corner to satisfy all your ice cream desires.

Grass Lawn Park splash pad, Redmond
One of the Eastside’s most popular parks, Grass Lawn has extensive fields, kid-friendly biking trails, picnic areas, great playgrounds for little and big kids (including a two-story climbing structure), and a sensor-activated spray pad.

Redmond Downtown Park splash pad, Redmond
Redmond’s centerpiece park doesn’t have a playground, but it does have features to appeal to kids and families, including a splash pad.

Redmond Town Center fountains, Redmond
Redmond Town Center’s outdoor areas went through an upgrade a few years ago to make them more play-friendly and safe, with a pedestrian zone that encompasses the splash pad, as well as pavement games and picnic benches.
Hours: Open daily during mall hours, weather permitting.

Sammamish Commons spray park, Sammamish
Next time you’re on the Plateau, give this park a try. Located in the Lower Commons Park, the button-operated spray park is next to a play structure, so your kids can choose between wear-’em-out options. Tip: Visit on a Wednesday afternoon and swing by Sammamish’s sweet farmers market.

North Sound spray parks

Haller Park, Arlington
This spacious park is right along the Stillaguamish River and is a popular spot to fish and view eagles. It also has a great splash pad! The splash pad has a fun pond theme, with animals spraying water out of their mouths and tall cattails sprinkling water from above. There is even a bucket dump for kids ready for a really big splash. This park also has restrooms, picnic tables (including covered areas that can be reserved), river and beach access, and the Stilly Snack Shack where you can buy concessions. See the website for hours, and keep in mind that the snack shack be may be closed due to staffing shortages.
Hours: The splash pad is open from 11 a.m.–7 p.m. daily, Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day (weather permitting).

Forest Park, Everett
Everett’s Forest Park boasts an awesome water playground with 16 interactive water features and an area designed just for toddlers. Forest Park also offers a playground, but note that the swim center pool remains closed.

Daleway Park, Lynnwood
Besides the nice spray park, this park in Lynnwood also features nature trails and picnic areas.

North Lynnwood Park, Lynnwood
The big draw at this older spray park is the large, mist-spraying green dragon.

Comeford Park spray park, Marysville
This spray park features water jets, spray cannons, rotating sprinklers and more fun for the kids. On Tuesdays, the spray park is open 10–11 a.m. just for families of kids with disabilities.

Willis Tucker Splash Pad, Snohomish
Even if you don’t live close by, it’s worth the drive to play in the giant splash pad at Snohomish’s wonderful Willis D. Tucker Community Park. Watch out for the dragon soaker! Reader Sandra Lamb recommends exploring the “awesome playground and sandpit area,” too, and says it has soft grass for picnics and play. This splash pad operates on a timer. To activate the system, lightly touch the top of the yellow pedestal, then remove your hand and wait 15–30 seconds for the fun to begin!

Hazel Miller Spray Park, Edmonds
This large spray park is a North Sound favorite! Located at woodsy Edmonds City Park next to a play structure, it includes a 55-gallon bucket, water cannons, arches that spray water and a toddler-friendly area where kids can play in the water. Look for the fun area beyond the spray park where kids can build small dams to affect water flow. Conveniently, picnic tables are located nearby. The park also boasts a ballfield, trails and more. It’s also a nice stroll to the ferry terminal.
