Where to stay

City Center Hotels: These five hotels are located in the heart of Reykjavík and within walking distance to restaurants and most attractions. Rooms are comfortable, but may not be posh. The staff is extremely friendly, and most do include a continental breakfast with the price of the room. From $135 per night (weekends in summer)

Best Western Hotel Reykjavík: This recognizable chain hotel is located in the center of town and easy walking distance to anything you may need. Suites and family rooms are offered to give larger groups more space to spread out. A complimentary continental breakfast is included. From $275 per night (weekends in summer)

Vacation rentals: Rental apartments are available through AirBnb.com, VRBO.com and other major vacation rental listing sites. Make sure you clarify exactly where the apartment or home is located. If you want to stay in the middle of the action, look for lodging in central Reykjavík.
