Camp this summer at these nearby state parks

Is your family going camping this summer? Until today, being able to go camping seemed uncertain, but Washington State Parks just announced that campgrounds in 22 Washington counties are opening June 1. Campgrounds located in counties in Phase 2 of Gov. Jay Inslee's four-phase plan will open at full or partial capacity.

State park campgrounds in other counties are not yet open, but are currently accepting campsite reservations for July 1, 2020, and later. Group campsites, cabins and yurts remain closed. Most Washington State Parks opened for day use on May 5.

In anticipation of camping this summer — oh, do we ever need this change of scenery! — we've picked out five state park campgrounds that are convenient and fun for Seattle-area families. Some are opening June 1 and some will open when their counties reach Phase 2. While it's still possible some parks won't reopen for camping and some reservations may not be honored if parks can't open at full camping capacity, the best way to have the chance of a camping trip this summer is to book a campsite now.

Use the arrows above the image to check out the campgrounds, please remember to follow guidelines for safely recreating outdoors and happy camping!
