Will they have one of the top names of 2025? Photo: iStock
It’s that time of year again: the end-of-the-year lists have arrived! You’ve no doubt poured over your Spotify Wrapped and read countless articles about the best of just about everything from 2025. Well, we’ve got one more list for you: the most popular baby names of 2025.
Did you have a baby in 2025 and choose one of these names? Or did you go against the grain and choose something that will never crack the top 100 most popular names, let alone the top 10! No matter where your baby’s name falls on the list, one thing is for sure — it’s absolutely perfect for your little bundle of joy.
Top 10 baby names of 2025, nationally and in Seattle
If the top 10 names look familiar this year, that’s because there were barely any changes from 2024 to 2025. New parents across the country were feeling consistent, I suppose! Two new girl names did make their way into the top 10. Eliana and Aurora are new additions (pushing out Ava and Luna).
The top 5 boy names for 2025 are exactly the same as last year. The only change the top 10 list saw is name number 10; Luca is a new addition, which pushed Leo off the list.
The top 10 baby names (nationally) for 2025 are:

Here in Seattle, however, we march to the beat of our own drum, especially when it comes to baby names. Our top ten names of 2025 look nothing like the national list, yet the names feel very familiar if you have lived here for a few years.
Here are Seattle’s top 10 baby names:

How many of these names bring a specific child to mind? Personally, I know (at least) one kid who answers to 13 of those 20 names. Guess that makes me a true Seattleite!
Top 100 baby names for 2025
There was a little more movement in the top 100 names nationally, especially for girl names. The following names joined the top 100 list for the first time:
- Eloise
- Emersyn
- Catalina
- Juniper
- Kehlani
- Oaklynn
- Sienna
While these names made it back on the list in 2025:
- Sarah is back after a year away.
- Charlie is back after four years.
- Josephine is back for the first time since 1943.
Once again, boy names saw very little movement. Malachi and Ali made it onto the top 100 list for the first time, and Arthur and Nathaniel both returned.
Baby name trends to watch for in 2026
Looking ahead to next year, pop culture is expected to influence popular baby names in 2026 (per usual). Names from popular TV shows including “Severance,” “The Pitt” and “White Lotus” are bringing names like Helena, Heather, Belinda and Chelsea up the ranking list already. And we are sure to see a continued increase in names like Francis, Francesco, Frankie, Franz, Francine, Frances and Francesca as Pope Francis will likely continue to be a source of naming inspiration into the next year.
We are also seeing a rise in names like Howie, Nick, and Lance as nostalgia for boy bands from the early 2000s takes hold. (Though Jordon, John, Donnie, Danny and Joey are the only boy band names for me). K-pop stars have been an influence too: We are seeing a significant rise in the names Jin and Jun (Jin has risen 699 spots and Jun is up 1,397 spots on BabyCenter’s list!).
Where does your name rank?
Curious how popular your name was when you were born? Head to the Social Security website and enter your birth year to find out. A version of my name was ranked number 28 the year I was born (you’ll have to do a little detective work to figure out when that was!).
