Happy 250th birthday, America! Expect some extra-special commemorative activities along with the usual sparkles and booms overhead this year. The 4th lands on a Saturday, so maybe you’ll let the kids stay up later than usual and risk the next day’s sleep-deprived crankiness. Some cities will set off their fireworks on Thursday or Friday, which will give you extra days to recover from blowing past bedtime.

But if any late night is too late for your kids, Seattle-area fireworks shows are not the only way to celebrate. There are so many other things to do on the Fourth of July including kids’ parades and other daytime festivities. The best tradition of all? All events are free and open to the public unless otherwise noted. Here’s where to celebrate the Fourth of July and watch fireworks around Seattle in 2026.
