Kids Think About Love in Mostly Practical Terms

Published on: December 30, 2013

What is love, according to the kiddos? It is -- for the most part -- active. It's not  how you feel, it's what you do for someone, or what they do for you. It's giving someone most of your French fries (without expecting any in return), helping someone to not be scared, and "what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen."

My favorite, by 8-year-old Jessica:

You really shouldn't say "I love you" unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget.

Word, little sister.
