The Seattle Folklore Society welcomes Phil and Vivian Williams to the Phinney Center stage for an evening of hits of the nineteenth century along with tunes from more contemporary Northwest fiddlers. It's not often we can be treated to tunes of the campfires and grange halls of the Northwest from nearly a century and a half ago. Phil and Vivian are true scholars of the genre, having researched the history, and performed this music over more than 50 years. They recently published their "Songs and Dances of the Oregon Trail," the results of an eleven year effort to accurately present and historically document 60 songs. Vivian is the historian, and a consummate fiddler. Phil plays backup on "anything with strings on it," and is renowned for playing fiddle tunes on the mandolin. Please visit Phil and Vivian's website Voyager Records (http://voyagerrecords.com) for more information, music and videos.
