The entire local community is invited to attend The Big Chanukah Show, a vaudeville-style show featuring Jewish Chanukah-related music, comedy, and other entertainment during the winter holiday season. This is the first event of its kind in Seattle, designed to create a fun and festive show to celebrate the Jewish holiday of Chanukah.
The show is being organized by Seattle Rabbi James Mirel, who will be one of the featured entertainers with his Shalom Ensemble Klezmer band. The show will also include a performance by the Seattle Jewish Chorale, a recitation of the Chanukah story in different languages, a Menorah lighting ceremony, and - of course - a raucous sing-along.
Seattle Jewish Chorale, which will perform Chanukah songs in multiple languages, preserves, celebrates and advances the cultural heritage of world Jewry and fosters unity, understanding and respect within the Jewish community as well as between Jews and the wider community. As a multi-generational choir that performs Jewish chorale music in English, Hebrew, Yiddish, and Ladino, it is the only community-based (i.e. non-synagogue affiliated) Jewish choir between Vancouver B.C. and San Francisco.
