Northwest Puppet Center presents: "Images of China" performed by Dragon Arts Studio. This performance features a collection of vignettes drawing from Chinese culture and literature. It begins with "Crane and Turtle", a traditional puppet act inspired by a classical poem. Other acts include "The Donkey's Best Friend" about a girl and her father who have different ways of dealing with their stubborn animal and "The Old Man & the Monkeys" with a merchants humorous encounter on the way to the market. Master puppeteers from Beijing, Xu Zhengli and Wang Yuqin have performed around the world. Their lifelong dedication to puppetry was recognized with the National Heritage Award, the highest honor bestowed on artists. Most recently, they performed at the Congress of Union International de la Marionette (UNIMA), the oldest international theater organization and a member group of UNESCO. This is a fantastic introduction to Chinese culture for audiences of all ages and is in Seattle for only two weekends. http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/270564
