Founded in 2010, the Big Backyard 5K, also known as the BBY 5K, is a community run/walk
showcasing King County Parks.
Proceeds from the BBY5K benefit King County Parks, supporting maintenance and operations of facilities and recreational resources. Over our 12 years, more than 13,000 runners and walkers have gathered to raise over $80,000 for King County Parks. Thank You!
This year’s event celebrates the great facilities and recreational opportunities provided by King County Parks. We want to thank Harborstone Credit Union for their support of this family-friendly 5K run/walk.

LIVE 5K RUN-WALK
The BBY 5K is your race for Team competition, a flat fast course, a familywalk/jog in the park, and quality time with your four-legged running buddy.
VIRTUAL 5K RUN-WALK
Can't make it to the event? Run your 5K virtually from anywhere! When you register for the Virtual Event, you will be emailed a link to report your time. Submit your results to us anytime between June 1 to 4. Apps such as Strava, Garmin, MapMyRun, etc. are appreciated, but we will also take your word for it in support of King County Parks. Packets will be mailed to Virtual participants.
TEAMS
Sign up with your friends and running buddies! We will take the results from your Fastest 5 finishers to calculate Team Awards. Sign-up as many team members as you want and improve your odds of winning. Your Team Captain will enter your Team Name when he/she registers. Individual members will select your Team Name from the Pull-Down Menu in the Team Registration field. Teams are part of the LIVE event (only), and we look forward to watching the competition
