Welcome back to the Seattle Asian Art Museum! We’re free all reopening weekend with two full days highlighting Asian art and culture and the reimagined museum. From worship and celebration, to clothing and identity, experience programming based on the themes organizing the galleries. Boundless: Stories of Asian Art creates meaningful connections and deeper understandings of cultures across time and place. Art activities, performances, and interactive experiences reflect on the complex and diverse histories of ancient and contemporary Asian cultures, while celebrating our region’s rich Asian and Pacific Islander communities.
Timed tickets are required. Programming is scheduled continuously throughout both days, so no matter when you visit, you'll experience lively and artistic events.

Prior to the doors opening on Saturday February 8, please join us for the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at 8 am. No tickets are required for this outdoor ceremony.

Explore the reinstalled collection in Boundless: Stories of Asian Art and reflect on who we are and where we belong in the exhibition, Be/longing: Contemporary Asian Art. Spotlight tours led by SAM Docents will be held on the hour throughout select galleries.

Get creative in the new Education Studio with local contemporary artists, reflecting on themes in Boundless.
Hear from curators & watch films
Stay tuned for a schedule of brief exhibition overviews presented by SAM curators in the newly renovated Stimson Auditorium. Take a seat and enjoy film selections curated by our partners.
Che Sehyun curates a roster of community-driven performances in the Fuller Garden Court that kick-off a year of programming in partnership with Office of Arts & Culture 1% for art program and funding provided by the City of Seattle.
Explore new spaces
The galleries aren't only thing that are new and renovated. Other spaces and resources at the museum have also been enhanced and expanded:
- Take in a beautiful view of Volunteer Park and its historic trees in the Alvord Board Room.
- Get to know the resources and learning materials available to the public in the McCaw Foundation Library.
- Learn the science, tools, and methods behind preserving Asian art in the new Conservation Studio.
- Share your stories and go deeper into histories in the Learning Gallery.
- Learn more about the diverse range of programs presented by the Gardner Center for Asian Art & Ideas.
- API Chaya curates the inaugural exhibition, The Space Between in the McCaw Community Gallery.
