OK, I know some of you have been too Amy Chua-d lately. But here's a blog you shouldn't miss. "Roar of the Tiger Mom," today's entry in Wendy Lawrence's, "The family that reads together" Kid Lit Blog for parents, nails it.
She says, "Most of the people who have derided the book online...have not read the book but are drawing their hatred from excerpts they've seen, their own blatant or denied racism, and their secret fear that their own kids aren't going to be concert pianists when they grow up; or they have read the book but completely missed the deadpan humor, the obvious mockery...and they also secretly fear that their own kids aren't going to be concert pianists when they grow up."
For a different, honest and refreshing take on Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother, check out this blog. And by the way, Wendy is my daughter-in-law...but I'd be wildly raving about this post even if she was someone else's!
