It’s no secret that the role of Seattle Public Schools' Superintendent has had an unusually high turnover rate. Incumbent Seattle Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Larry Nyland’s contract expires in June of this year and SPS has been searching for his replacement since January.
If you want to be involved in the selection process, Seattle families are invited to a public forum Thursday, March 29, 5–8:15 p.m., at the John Stanford Center Auditorium.
For those who can’t attend live, the public forum will be broadcast live on the District’s Channel 26 with opportunities for families to comment on each candidate via survey until 9 p.m. on Thursday, March 29.
If you do attend, you may want to consider questions related to some of the issues the district has been most widely criticized for: services for low income families, equity in discipline and special services, gun safety measures and, of course, school funding.
Hurry: You have just over 24 hours to submit your feedback.
