Tacoma Performing Dance Company presents its Spring Concert—two times in one day. Artistic Director Jo Emery will premiere two new works: “Country” staged to country western music featuring 45 dancers and Set Fire To The Rain.
The Ballroom Project, made possible from a donation to the company from David and Susan Schrenk, is the work of ballroom master teacher and choreographer Jean Milano. The work uses four couples in latin style choreography. Milano and her husband Kaye Munro have been working with the company for several months on this venture.
Tess Bentley and Toni Cox will dance The Hot Honey Rag from "Chicago", choreographed by Bob Fosse. Tess Bentley learned the routine in her Joffrey Ballet Summer Program in New York.
Choreographer Amity Howell-Sloboda will premiere her work Night. Night. which is a work she created in 1998 for the University of Washington's Dance Majors Concert. She will be showcasing an additonal work that was newly choreographed this spring to accompany her archived piece.
Two pointe works from the company repertoire, Carmen Variations and the Tinkerbelles Fairies complete the program.
