Gardening with Kids Workshop

Calendar/Event Details

Help your kids learn where food comes from while learning new gardening skills. This fun, hands-on workshop is designed to engage kids and parents alike, and will enhance your whole family’s experience in the garden (wherever it may be).

During our Gardening with Kids workshop, you and your child will:

  • Go on a scavenger hunt to learn about gardening routines and tasks – why they’re important for growing plants and connecting to your garden
  • Investigate the soil! We’ll dig in to learn how and when to water plants and make a worm “trap” to attract these important soil helpers
  • Learn about seeds and plant a “mystery seed” to take home
  • Gain a bit of mapmaking know-how on an adventure to harvest a secret snack

Adults will have the opportunity to discuss educational philosophies and topics such as garden safety, understanding comfort zones, fun ideas and examples of how to garden with kids, and reconnecting to moments of wonder and exploration.

Parents, teachers, or other interested parties are welcome to attend this workshop as individuals to learn methods and philosophies for working with children in a garden setting.

This workshop is led by our Oxbow Education (OxEd) team.
