KCLS Online Program: What Do Sports Teach Our Kids?

Calendar/Event Details

Sports are more than games—they can provide role models, instill values, and provide wonder and inspiration. But is there a cost to a child watching or playing sports, with recent issues such as the NFL concussion scandal, athlete drug abuse and controversies over protesting the national anthem? Drawing from sociology, philosophy and years of studying, coaching, and playing sports, presenter Eric Davis explores these deeper themes.

Davis is an Associate Professor of Sociology and Program Chair for the Cultural & Ethnic Studies Department at Bellevue College. Davis served as an academic adviser in the UW Athletic Department from 2004-2009. A former college student-athlete himself, Davis holds degrees from UCLA and Seattle University.
