Let’s spice it up! In this interactive class, students will learn the science and history behind some of the most popular herbs and spices used in recipes around the world. Everyone loves amazing food and this class will explore the connection between the wonderful smells and fantastic tastes that make our favorite dishes special. From paella to pilaf, herbs and spices help food taste better and students will be able to leave class with a unique spice mixture to use in their own cooking adventures.
For this program we recommend having the following materials ready:
- Science notebook or paper
- Pencil or pen
- Crayons, colored pencils, or markers
- 3-5 spice or herb samples (these can be any spices or herbs)
- Optional – a jar or bag to store spice mixture in and measuring spoons.
