Carnival rides, animals on display, a rodeo, lots of free entertainment for the kids (including little ones riding sheep bucking-bronco style), and those mouthwatering scones — it’s all there at the Puyallup Fair this month. Trains of all scales — from G to N — are on display at the White River Valley Museum’s Model Railroad Show the weekend of Sept. 8-9. Maritime Fest gives visitors a taste of life on the working waterfront, with train and boat rides, and harbor tours, as well as toy-boat building for the kids. It happens at and around the Thea Foss Waterway, located in Tacoma. Most activities are free. Sept. 15-16. 253-318-2210, maritimefest.org
