Maintaining a connection with your child

Published on: December 30, 2013

My sister-in-law and her family visited us in August. She has a nine-year-old and a three-year-old and lots of opinions (always diplomatically presented) about parenting.

While she was here, she introduced me to Hand in Hand, a west coast non-profit whose approach is Parenting by Connection.

I've perused a few of their online articles and have found lots of helpful suggestions on topics such as Handling Children's Feelings in Public Places and Children, Chores and Drudgery.

Hand in Hand is also facilitating a program called Building Emotional Connection at the UW starting in October.

Mosey on over and check them out. It never hurts to get more ideas to make parenting easier!
