Summer swimming isn't canceled
We are finally getting the beautiful summer weather we count on here in the Pacific Northwest, and that means it's time to swim! Unfortunately, most outdoor swimming pools around the sound are not opening for summer 2020. These include Seattle's Colman Pool and Mounger Pool; Tacoma's Stewart Heights and Kandle Pools, McCollum Park Pool in Everett and Renton's popular Henry Moses Aquatic Center. Bummer! On top of this, most cities' spray parks and wading pools are not opening this summer.
But never fear, we've got lake beaches for summer swimming. We've rounded up great swimming spots for families up and down Puget Sound. Keep in mind that open status can change at any time, so be sure to check before venturing out (along with bacteria-related closures). Also, remember your masks and follow guidelines for recreating safely outdoors.
One more thing: Kids and water present a situation that calls for incredibly close attention to safety. Check out these water safety guidelines from Seattle Children's.
