At Saturday Family Events, children (ages 6-11) and their family members explore architecture through hands-on activities that highlight a new design topic every month! Arrive at 10am for an introduction to innovative examples of local and global architectural projects. Then, children take the lead in using the design process to create their own design proposal for a group presentation. Volunteer architects and designers assist children and families along the way. Please bring snacks if needed. There will be no snacks offered during this program.

Workshops are held on second Saturdays from 10am-noon and are FREE to attend. Advance registration is strongly encouraged as space is limited.

__2016 Schedule:__

**January 9: Bike-able Seattle**
Biking is becoming a bigger part of how we get around in cities! At this family event explore world-wide examples of bike-able cities. Then, draw and map your own ideas for a more bike-friendly Seattle.

**February 13: Urban Farming**
Urban farming is a movement that has been growing for quite some time. Discover why communities and buildings around the US have invested in urban farms and then design your own!

**March 12: Housing Boom**
As newcomers flood into cities like Seattle, the “buzz” is all about housing. Creative housing is being built across the globe and this event will offer examples for inspiration as participants design their own.

**April 9: Recycled City**
In honor of Earth Day, join us to create a metropolis out of recycled materials! Bring all the recycled materials you can find for building.* Then, get building ideas from real world architectural reuse projects!

*We will provide recycled materials collected from local architecture firms and the tools for construction!

**May 14: Creative Streets**
What makes you want to spend more time walking down the street? Neighbors you know? Trees? Street Art? Explore ways that communities have changed local streets and redesign a street near where you live!

**June 11: City of Bridges**
Seattle is surrounded by water and thus has many great examples of bridges! We will look at a variety of bridge styles both traditional and futuristic. Then families will design their own bridge of the future!
