El Centro de la Raza is holding its 12th Annual Ofrenda Exhibit Opening and Celebration on Tuesday, November 1st! Come join us from 5:00 PM – 8:30 PM for free dinner, children’s activities, music and view the ofrendas. At El Centro de la Raza 2524 16th Ave S, Seattle, WA 98144. Street parking only. Our theme this year is Historias Vigentes, Historias Olvidadas. “The forgotten stories that must not be forgotten” are words used to pay tribute to social justice martyrs; those who have died for voting rights, racial equity and equal justice for all. This year’s Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) theme draws attention to systematic inequity and calls on people to exercise their right to vote in honor of those who have lost their lives. Thank you to the many different groups who created an ofrenda this year, and to our sponsors 4 Culture, Office of Arts & Culture, KUOW 94.9, Seattle Public Utilities and Washington State Arts Commission. The ofrenda exhibit continues through November 18th and is open Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 AM – 6 PM, and Thursdays from 12 PM – 8 PM. The exhibit is open for school field trips as well. To schedule a field trip or for more information about this event, please call (206) 957-4605.
