As the last seasonal wildflower blossoms fade and native berries ripen on the vine, a host of vigorous plants are appearing everywhere. With a bewildering variety of sizes, shapes, colors, and habitats, some of these plants seem benign, others are armed (with thorns) and aggressive. Collectively we call them weeds. But what makes one plant a weed and another plant something else? Why do we refer to some as “bad” and others acceptable? Join Lead Naturalist Ed Dominguez as we discover the fascinating world of weeds in Seward Park.
