MLK Day: Plant Seattle's Future Forests!

Calendar/Event Details

Join DNDA-Nature Consortium for our annual MLK Day of Service event! We will be planting native trees and plants, and finishing the day with an engaging EcoArts activity. Live music and pizza will be provided. Additionally, we will have a family-centered table with environmental themed activities such as Jenga, Bingo, coloring pages and more!

We will be working in the West Duwamish Greenbelt, which is the largest contiguous forest within the City of Seattle. This important green space extends over 500 acres and provides important ecosystem services to the Duwamish Rivershed. Volunteers will provide a crucial boost to efforts aimed at restoring sites to healthy, diverse forests by planting native plant species.

Perks of volunteering with us:

  • Strengthen family bonds
  • Give kids a sense of purpose in their community
  • Learn the importance of environmental stewardship
  • Fun & fulfilling work for the whole family
  • Allow kids to express creativity through EcoArts

What to Bring: Please dress appropriately with long pants, warm and dry layers, closed-toed shoes, lunch, and water bottle. Waterproof clothing is highly recommended.

What We Provide: Tools, gloves, onsite training and safety talk, extra water and granola bars/snacks.
