City of Olympia Arbor Day Celebration

Calendar/Event Details

Olympia loves trees!

Trees and forests are part of the fabric and identity of our community. They help keep our air and water clean, provide shade on hot summer days, and make our parks and greenspaces inviting for both people and wildlife alike. In fact, Olympia has been a Tree City USA for 30 years!

Each year, the City and its partners host a variety of Arbor Day events to celebrate our forests and join the community in planting new trees for future generations. This year we’re combining Arbor Day with National Public Lands Day to celebrate two great events!

2023 Arbor Day Celebration

Join us this year at Squaxin Park (formerly Priest Point Park), at the Rose Garden shelter, on Saturday September 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This year we’re excited to include a habitat stewardship work party, where our community will have a hands-on opportunity to help improve the health of the forest in Squaxin park. In addition, we’re looking forward to the following:

  • Ask-an arborist booth
  • Native plant giveaway
  • Kids activities
  • Community-based resources
  • Ceremonial tree planting
  • Jay Butts "Friends of Trees" Award recognition
  • and more!
