School tidbits for September

learnHere's this month's round-up of nifty school updates:

There is a brand new Montessori school in Bellevue called The Eastside Montessori School.

Soundview School in Lynnwood is now offering the IB degree.

Planet Kids Montessori in Bellevue has a completely organic lunch program with meals cooked on-site.

Whole Earth Montessori in Bothell has a new 3,500 square-foot "green" building with geo-thermal heating/cooling and solar panels. 

The Van Asselt School on Beacon Hill has a new organic snack program, thanks to a grant from the Washington Grown Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program. Afternoon snacks are being provided to all students at the school.

St. Thomas School in Medina has just had its newly constructed building and campus LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified. St. Thomas School is the first school to achieve Gold level accreditation under the LEED for Schools program in Washington and second in the nation.
