University of Washington Symphony Orchestra and Seattle Symphony Side-by-Side Concert

Calendar/Event Details

42724

This spring, Ludovic Morlot and the Seattle Symphony will give two side-by-side concerts with student orchestras in the region. Side-by-side concerts feature young orchestra musicians joined by their Seattle Symphony counterparts on stage. A part of Morlot and Symphony musicians’ dedication to nurturing the next generation of musicians in the community, side-by-sides give young artists an opportunity to play with and learn from professional musicians and mentors. These performances follow three other side-by-side concerts that took place last fall with high school and amateur orchestras in the area.
This side-by-side takes place at Meany Hall at the University of Washington, where Ludovic Morlot has served as Chair of Orchestral Conducting Studies in the School of Music since 2013. In this capacity, Morlot makes five to seven appearances at the University each year, leading classes and seminars in conducting. Students in the program also attend Seattle Symphony rehearsals throughout the season as part of their training under Morlot. This concert is free to the community. Admission to the concert is free, but tickets are required. To reserve tickets, send a request with your name, address, and phone number and a self-addressed, stamped envelope to the ArtsUW Ticket Offce, 1313 NE 41st St., Seattle WA 98105. Limit two tickets per request. Tickets may also be requested in person or by phone at 206.543.4880. In order to receive your tickets by mail, please send your request with SASE by Friday, April 10. After that date, tickets will be left at Will Call.
