Nordic Sól

Calendar/Event Details

You’re invited to National Nordic Museum’s new summer cultural showcase- Nordic Sól! With a cool focus on Arctic vendors, crafts, music, and culture, this collaboration of polar artisans and like-minded local businesses will feature a series of thoughtfully curated events, including an Arctic-themed Pecha Kucha, Friday night concert featuring the Circumpolar Hip Hop Collab, and a Saturday evening Arctic Adventure of modern fashion, traditional foods, and aquavit garden! For kids and families, we will have Arctic film shorts, traditional Inuit games, STEAM activities, and more throughout the weekend. Plus a special appearance by the Sweet Wheels ice cream truck! Plus, you'll get half-off your admission to the Museum on August 24 and 25.

Visit the Nordic Museum's website for more details about daily schedules of events. We only have the last two days of the festival listed in our calendar event, as they are more geared towards families. The festival runs from August 22–25th. Some events have a fee and/or require preregistration. The Nordic Museum website lists the family activities on August 24–25th as free.

August 24–25 for Families: In addition to Inuit Games, the weekend has a host of special fun perfect for families and kids. Drop-in crafting stations, stories, games, and STEAM learning activities will take place in the Museum and on outdoor terrace. You'll be able to make your own festive flower crown, and watch demonstrations by several of the vendors. We'll also screen Arctic shorts by filmmaker Greg Hemmings on loop in the classrooms. Plus, the Sweet Wheels ice cream truck will be in the parking lot to satisfy your sweet tooth! As a weekend special, Museum admission is half off for all guests!
