Children’s Day is a cherished Japanese tradition celebrating the health, happiness, and future of children. Symbolized by colorful carp kites (koinobori), the holiday represents strength, perseverance, and the hope that children will grow and thrive. Rooted in family and community, it’s a meaningful opportunity to come together and honor the next generation.
This year’s event offers a lively mix of hands-on activities and cultural experiences, including making koinobori (carp streamers), origami, wanage (ring toss), and yo-yo tsuri (water yo-yo fishing), along with many other interactive games. Visitors can also enjoy dynamic performances by Tacoma Fuji Taiko and a Yosakoi Dance Group, bringing energy and movement to the celebration.
