Parents know how important a certain special stuffed animal can be to their kids, so we can totally get behind a day that celebrates teddy bears and other fuzzy friends. It's National Teddy Bear Day and it's Monday, Sept. 9, 2019.

Right on cue, Build-A-Bear Workshop — international purveyor of dressed-up stuffies — is offering a special teddy bear to mark the day. Starting Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019, a special National Teddy Bear Day bear will be for sale at Build-A-Bear Workshops and Walmart stores for $6.50. The bear will be for sale while supplies last Saturday–Monday, Sept. 7–9, 2019.

This is the first year Build-A-Bear has partnered with Walmart to offer the exclusive bear. Both chains are planning special kids' activities and interactive fun to celebrate National Teddy Bear Day — see below for special local sites. There are some 300 Build-A-Bear Workshops and over 2,000 Walmart stores in the U.S.

Families can spread some teddy love, too, by snapping a selfie with their bear, or with Build-A-Bear's mascot, Bearemy. Bearemy will make appearances at Build-A-Bear Workshop stores at noon on Saturday, and at a few select locations on Sunday, Sept. 8. Post your photo on social media with the hashtag #NationalTeddyBearDay and Build-A-Bear will donate a teddy bear for every picture posted, up to 50,000 bears.

Find a Build-A-Bear Workshop locally at Alderwood Mall in Lynnwood, Southcenter in Tukwila, Tacoma Mall in Tacoma and Columbia Center in Kennewick. Find Walmart locations online.

Locations for special Bearemy sightings Sunday include:

Build-A-Bear's "pay your age day" last year attracted huge crowds. Be sure to pack your patience if you plan to go meet Bearemy.
