September

  • Lake Union Wooden Boat Festival. Kid-tastic activities abound at this fest held every year at Seattle's Center for Wooden Boats, including toy-boat building, free sails and other maritime-themed fun.
  • Washington State Fair. Bring on the deep-fried Snickers! "Doing the Puyallup" in September is an annual rite of passage for many families, with carnival rides, animal encounters, the rodeo, monster truck jams and free entertainment for kids.
  • Bremerton Blackberry Festival. With Bumbershoot's current pricing out of reach for many families, this Labor Day fest at up-and-coming Bremerton is a great alternative, with blackberry treats, fun runs, fly-ins and more family fun on the Bremerton boardwalk.
