The Garifuna people are the descendants of an Afro-indigenous population from the Caribbean island of St Vincent who were exiled to the Honduran coast in the eighteenth century and subsequently moved to Belize. To share a musical style steeped in the rhythms of his culture, drummer Ricardo Guity leads Hagucha Garinagu (translating to Garifuna Roots) in a folkloric Saturday Family Concert full of energetic tunes and lively percussion. Learn how to sing songs and play instruments in the Garifuna style, and hear stories celebrating the history and culture of the Garifuna people. Bring the whole family to sing, dance, and play along to the universal language of music.
