Salmon are truly iconic to the City of Issaquah. The fish are represented in local culture, heritage and arts; featured in local business, organization names, logos (including the City of Issaquah) and the subject matter of public art. At the center of the fall salmon run (late August through November) is the Issaquah Salmon Hatchery. The hatchery is open daily and free to explore the exhibits, feed the trout, aquarium and viewing windows. FISH offer various tour options including guided (book a spot) & self-guided (audio & map based). For kids, the hatchery offers a self-guided scavenger hunt.
Self-guided tours start at the aquarium room and last about 45-90 minutes.
An audio tour in English, Spanish, Chinese and Japanese is available through your cell phone.
Just click on the QR codes on exhibit displays.
FISH Docent-Guided Tours are a great way to learn about salmon and the hatchery from an expert. Tours are 50 minutes and happen rain or shine. To book a tour, please reach out to us at education@issaquahfish.org with your group information (number of participants, age range, and a few preferred dates and times). We ask that your preferred dates be at least 1 week in advance so we can confirm details and coordinate volunteer docent tour guides.
$10 suggested donation per adult, $5 youth for guided tours; ages 3 and younger are free.
