LWGMS Open House

Calendar/Event Details

Lake Washington Girls Middle School empowers girls to be strong in mind, body, and voice. We hold up the opportunity of a world in which girls are nurtured and empowered to reach their academic, social, and emotional potential. To that end, the school provides a supportive single-gender learning environment where students, teachers, staff, families, and our surrounding community are active partners in inspiring leadership, social responsibility, and self-confidence in girls.

At LWGMS, students learn that they have the power to solve problems, to innovate, to invent, to challenge the status quo, and to overcome obstacles. An L-Dub girl knows that struggle and failure are normal – and that effort is a crucial part of eventual success. With a well-rounded academic program – grounded in social justice with a full complement of opportunities in STEAM, sports, leadership, and performance – girls are empowered to think critically, develop leadership, enjoy learning, and work for equity through an innovative curriculum proven to prepare girls for success in high school college preparatory programs and adventures beyond the classroom.

LWGMS is on the cusp of a game-changing move: moving into a permanent new home – at 2100 S Walker St, Seattle, WA 98144 – with spaces specifically designed to enhance programming and promote better learning for this generation of L-Dub girls and the next, with:

  • A science lab, art classroom, and STEAM studio
  • A performance space with a stage and tech booth
  • A school commons that will serve as a lunchroom and hub of the building
  • A big, green space for outdoor classrooms, community gatherings, and running around and playing
  • And a full gymnasium where we can have PE, hold sports practices, and host games

Our new, modern spaces will foster greater collaboration among teachers and students, and allow us to provide more hands-on and experiential learning experiences to our students.

Please join us for one of our Open Houses – held in our current home – this fall. Attending an Open House is an excellent way to get to know L-Dub, its program, and its people. Meet with students, teachers, and administrators, and learn how our academic and co-curricular programs may be a good match for your family.

No RSVP is required, but registration is appreciated.

The program does run for approximately two hours, so please arrive no later than 6p.

Wednesday, October 30, 6p
