Salmon SEEson at Longfellow Creek

Calendar/Event Details

Watch for coho salmon in October through December and chum in November as they migrate up Longfellow Creek! Start at Dragonfly Garden (corner of 28th Avenue SW and SW Dakota St., Seattle) and walk the trail south along the creek. Look under bridges where fish often hide. For best viewing, visit in the early morning or late afternoon to avoid glare and bring polarized glasses. Check here later in the season for details on volunteer opportunities to do pre-spawn mortality surveys.

Longfellow Creek, only four miles long, begins underground in West Seattle's Roxhill Park. From there it flows north through the Delridge Valley, into the West Waterway of the Duwamish River, Elliott Bay, and finally into Puget Sound.

Longfellow Creek is part of the Green Duwamish Journey - a self guided tour activity sponsored by Duwamish Alive! Follow along in this guidebook.
