Tacoma Public Library Program Kit: Discover Your African American Roots with a Family Tree Starter Kit

Calendar/Event Details

Celebrate Black History Month with Tacoma Public Library. The best way to get started with discovering your family’s history is writing down what you already know. Pick up a program kit from any Tacoma Library branch to get started.

  • All supplies provided by the library (printed worksheets and family tree templates, list of best websites to use, list of recommended books in TPL collection, instructions for logging into Tacoma Library’s free subscription to Ancestry.com)
  • Kits are available starting Tuesday, February 1st at 12 P.M. at each of the Tacoma Library branches while supplies last
  • No registration required, first come, first served

Be sure to check individual branch locations and hours HERE. We recommend calling your preferred location in advance to make sure kits are still available before heading out!

Need one-on-one help getting started or to explore past the point of your family’s known details? Sign up for a free session on February 23 with a knowledgeable genealogy researcher. Session slots are limited.
