The Northwest Stone Sculptors Association (NWSSA) is excited to offer Youth Soapstone Carving Workshops during the Northwest Art Alliance Best of the Northwest Spring Show.
Youth can participate an up-close, hands-on experience with creativity by learning to carve their own soapstone animal figurine. Ages 7 - 17. Free with admission to the Best of the Northwest Show. Spots are limited and registration is encouraged.
About the Workshops
Artist instructors from the Northwest Stone Sculptors Association will guide youth participants through the process of shaping this beautiful, natural material into a figurine to take home.
These workshops are designed to promote fine motor skills, 3D spatial reasoning, and artistic confidence. This event is free and the soapstone and all necessary kid-safe tools and water to minimize dust will be provided.
Two 90 minute sessions are available, on Saturday April 11th and Sunday, April 12th beginning at 10:30 am and 1:30 pm.

- This event is for youth ages 7-17
- Please arrive early to sign-in 30 minutes before workshop.
- Parent or adult must accompany child to registration in order to sign permission slip and waiver for photography
- Adults bringing children ages 12 and under are encouraged to stay with them during the workshop.
- Bring your own drinking water and snack if needed.
- Participants will be working with soapstone and water and soapstone dust will get on participants clothing, so please dress appropriately
- Please let us know if you need to cancel so we can allow a child on the waitlist to attend.
