17th of May Festivities at the National Nordic Museum

Calendar/Event Details

Happy Syttende Mai—Norwegian Constitution Day! Most years, the Ballard neighborhood celebrates with special parties, a banquet, a parade, and lots of family fun. Although COVID-19 restrictions mean we must wait until next year to bring back some of the festivities, we can still find ways to celebrate.

This year, the Museum is expanding our open hours to include Monday, May 17. We will be open for guests 10 am to 5 pm, with specials in our Museum Store, too! Please reserve your timed ticket online in advance. Members, your entry to the Museum is always free; please log in to the website and fill out the timed ticket form to reserve your free tickets. Our historic Model T will be decked out in Norwegian bunting for you to take photos in front of.

Our Museum Store has plenty of Syttende Mai gear to deck you out in (plus you can buy the official 2021 pin here), so be sure to shop the Museum Store online or during your visit.

Join our free virtual kids' craft session to make a Norwegian flag collage.

Check out additional Syttende Mai events put on by Seattle's 17th of May Festival committee.

Want to watch the virtual event while at the Museum? The 17th of May Committee's 11:30 am–12 pm virtual event will be broadcast in Osberg Great Hall. It's free to watch, but you must RSVP to reserve your seat.

We look forward to celebrating with you!
