Family Saturday: ‘Beauty of Us’ Celebration

Calendar/Event Details

Celebrate the Beauty of Us poster campaign at the Seattle Asian Art Museum where seven local Asian American, Pacific Islander, and Native Hawaiian women created original artwork to empower and uplift Seattle’s AA+NHPI communities. Families will have a special opportunity to participate in collaborative mural projects designed and facilitated by Beauty of Us artists Julie Kim and Raychelle Duazo, all to be displayed collectively in the museum's Community Gallery through May 21.

SCHEDULE

11:15 am: Be captivated by a live read-aloud of Where's Halmoni by artist and author, Julie Kim. Ideal for families with children ages 2–5, but all are welcome to enjoy. First come, first served. Arrive at least 15 minutes early to secure your spot.

11:45 am–2 pm: Craft a story tile to go with Julie Kim's Kaleidoscope Stories Community Mural.

11 am-2 pm: Design and color tattoos for Raychelle Duazo's No One Like You Community Mural.

Free Beauty of Us Posters will be available for all mural participants while supplies last.

All programming is free with suggested admission. Capacity is limited on a first-come, first-served basis for all activities. Early arrivals encouraged to secure your spot.
