Join us at the 'Territorial Sundial' outside the Washington State Capitol for some joyful and fun family fellowship and solidarity!
MomsRising, families, and caring adults of all ages will be there to unroll a GIANT receipt to show our legislators just how much child care is already breaking our family budgets – and that we can't afford to absorb the $322 million in additional cuts to child care and early learning that they are considering this session, as proposed by Governor Ferguson!

What's happening at the legislature? Washington lawmakers are considering budget cuts that would roll back decades of progress on child care, making it harder for ALL families to afford child care, whether you receive a subsidy or not. Meanwhile, our families are already squeezing everything we can out of our household budgets while we weather the affordability crisis on all levels.
Taken altogether, the Governor and state legislators are considering a budget measure that would amount to early learning shouldering 40% of the budget cuts when early learning takes up just 1% of our total state budget!
So...during our lawmakers' lunch break, when they typically walk past the "Territorial Sundial" outside the capitol, we'll be there with child care receipts (and family joy) to ensure they know families are watching and will be devastated by unfair cuts to child care and early learning!

Families like yours and mine have the receipts: the cost for child care is too damn high and we need our state to protect investments in child care, not make deep cuts into the budgets of real, hardworking families across our state.
