Seattle Children’s Festival
Oct. 15, 2022
In-Person 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. | Online all day
Seattle Children’s Festival is a celebration of the Pacific Northwest community and a chance for kids and their families to connect with the histories and cultures that make this community so vibrant. We invite families to join us in song, dance and storytelling alongside our Seattle community members. The festival will feature live performances and interactive workshops from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Some of this year’s features include:
- New this year, we invite families to explore the Festival using the Seattle Children’s Festival Atlas. Not only is this a roadmap to all the fun available at the Festival, but will feature interactive games, art and educational activities to take home!
- Two stages filled with storytelling, dancing, singing, workshops and more. Featuring Drag Queen Storytime with Aleksa Manila, Capoeira workshop with International Capoeira Angola Foundation, ‘Mo'olelo Moments’ stories and movement with 'Anakē Kalei of Huraiti Mana, Cultural Showcases and much more.
- The Discovery Zone will return with a variety of hands-on activities for families to explore musical instruments, local foods, and nonprofits. Create arts and crafts with local artists such as Jose Orantes and create your own animal masks and hats!
- New this year, Visually Speaking will be presenting an ASL Lounge! This voices-off space will have ASL games and activities, and all are invited to practice or learn American Sign Language together.
- On demand videos featuring new performances and favorites from the archives will be available online at nwfolklife.org/scf.
The annual Seattle Children’s Festival is produced by Northwest Folklife in partnership with Seattle Center. For this hybrid event, in-person events will take place at Seattle Center’s Fisher Pavilion as well as pre-recorded and live streaming content at nwfolklife.org/scf. As always, the Festival will provide a host of local artists and culture bearers that encourage families to dance, learn, play and sing together. Seattle Children’s Festival is community-powered, with a suggested donation of $20. To keep our community safe, we will be following Washington state COVID guidelines and encouraging masks for all participants.
