Live Q&A webinar streamed on Zoom
Childhood itself has gone missing. As childhood migrated online in the early 2010s, rates of mental illness among US adolescents surged, and kids' daily opportunities to learn and play independently disappeared. But it's not too late to change.
Join ParentMap for an important ParentEd Talk with renowned social psychologist Jonathan Haidt, author of “The Anxious Generation.”
What began with a book launch, The Anxious Generation has since transformed into a three-year campaign to reclaim childhood, inviting teens, parents, schools, tech and policy leaders to take collective action — from inside their own families and homes, at school, to the halls of Congress — all across the globe.
Whether you've already given your child a smartphone or you're trying to delay it, there's a role you can play to protect your children. Learn what’s happening to our kids and, more importantly, what we can do to help.
Register here for the live Q&A-style webinar for just $10. By signing up, you’ll receive access to the event recording to watch anytime, anywhere. Or, purchase a season pass for the entire ParentEd Talks series of monthly speakers for just $50.
About the speaker
Jonathan Haidt is the Thomas Cooley Professor of Ethical Leadership at New York University's Stern School of Business. He received his Ph.D. in social psychology from the University of Pennsylvania in 1992 and then did postdoctoral research at the University of Chicago and in Orissa, India. He taught at the University of Virginia for 16 years before moving to NYU-Stern in 2011. He was named one of the "top global thinkers" by Foreign Policy magazine and one of the "top world thinkers" by Prospect magazine.
Haidt’s research examines the intuitive foundations of morality, and how morality varies across cultural and political divisions. Since 2018, he has been studying the contributions of social media to the decline of teen mental health and the rise of political dysfunction. He is the author of several books including, “The Anxious Generation: How the Great Rewiring of Childhood is Causing an Epidemic of Mental Illness,” “The Happiness Hypothesis: Finding Modern Truth in Ancient Wisdom,” “The Righteous Mind: Why Good People are Divided by Politics and Religion” and coauthor of “The Coddling of the American Mind.”
