Here's the blog post I've been waiting for - that education editor Linda Morgan essentially called for - about that Yale professor/self-avowed 'Chinese Mother' that's been getting so much press.
Read this for a thoughtful response from fellow Chinese mother and Slate.com blogger Nina Shen Rastogi. Here's part:
"I bristle at the implication that mothers who don't parent in the way Chua chose to 'are not Chinese mothers'—as if they're inauthentic or some kind of anomaly. 'Chinese-ness' is a big tent, and why you'd want to take the most clichéd, horrific part of it and slap a brand name on it is beyond me. (To sell books? I kid. Sort of. Not really.)"
