free_basil_startsGot some grocery shopping to finish up before the weekend? Hit up the Westlake Whole Foods during their Earth Day celebration tomorrow (April 22) and receive some excellent, eco-friendly freebies!

From 11 a.m.-1 p.m., shoppers will be offered a free basil start for home planting, compliments of Allstot Farms with a suggested donation of $1 to help fund the Burke-Gilmans Garden P-Patch.

Also being featured all day in the Westlake Whole Foods store in honor of Earth Day -- free drip coffee in the coffee bar when you bring a mug from home and a 10% bag discount (up from 5%) for all of you faithful bring-your-own-bag shoppers!

I usually make a trip to Whole Foods each year on Earth Day for free herb starts while shopping and I couldn't be more excited for this in-store special tomorrow! Considering that basil is typically $4-5 a plant in the spring, it's great being able to get an organic, quality starter while donating to local organizations rather than to corporate stores such as Lowe's or Home Depot.

Check out the Whole Foods website for other Earth Day celebration freebies being offered by different stores. It looks like the Seattle Roosevelt Whole Foods will as well be offering free E-cycling throughout the day, along with the home bag discount.

And in other Earth Day awesomeness, don't forget to grab a free drip coffee or tea from Starbucks tomorrow when you bring your own mug! Rewards for going green are oh, so fun.
