July
The Welter Brothers
July 4

The Welter Brothers (Corban and Jackson) are scholars of traditional music and practical working musicians. They demonstrate a technical flash that comes from a youth spent jamming at bluegrass festivals, alongside an interest in the folk process and the art of aural storytelling (across many cultures). They have special affinity for eclectic and obscure regional music. As with any sibling duo, their "blood harmony" sets them apart, proving that the "brothers" part isn't just a band name.

Angel Gadzhev Folk Band
July 25

The Angel Gadzhev Folk Band is led by arranger, and gadulka performer Angel Gadzhev. The Folk Band plays authentic Bulgarian folk songs from five regions including solo vocal performances demonstrating Bulgarian ornamental singing techniques, and instrumental pieces performed on traditional Bulgarian instruments, including gaida (bagpipe), kaval (flute), gadulka (bowed instrument), and tupan (drum). Performers wear traditional Bulgarian folk costumes specific to their regional styles. Between pieces, ensemble members share cultural context, explain the significance of each dance and song, and, as part of the workshop component, invite audience members to learn basic steps of selected horo dances.

August
Eclectic Cloggers
Aug. 8

Since 1984, Eclectic Cloggers have been performing traditional Appalachian clog dancing throughout the Pacific Northwest, accompanied by live old-time music. Expect to be invited to sing and dance along with them at their family friendly performances.

Mount Vernon Mariachi & Folklórico
Aug. 22

Mount Vernon Mariachi & Folklórico is the largest Mariachi Program on the west side of the state with over 120 students. Mount Vernon High School Mariachi & Folklórico’s mission is to pass down Mexico’s rich traditions of dance and music to youth. This vibrant cultural heritage lives on in the community through MV performances.
