Pinocchio! - Unique Performance of the Original folktale

Calendar/Event Details

This play is based on the original folktale written by Italian, Carlo Collodi in 1881. It is lively and funny, yet meaningful and full of heart.

A 5-member cast relies on audience imagination and participation to tell a story about life, being truthful and what it means to be human. This re-telling draws on the rich history of Comedia dell’arte, which permeated Italian culture for centuries, continuing its influence during the time the story was written. The characters are, by turns, boisterous, zany, sly, cunning, foolish, and funny. The performances are both scripted and improvised, allowing the story to be tailored to the audience.

While there are biblical themes incorporated into the story, this is not a "religious" performance. It is meant for all ages and has as much to offer adults as children. Proceeds will benefit the St. James Outreach program.
