Tools for Success: How to Foster a Love of Writing in Your Child

Calendar/Event Details

Writing is a powerful form of communication, and we want our children to experience being a writer as part of their identity, just as being a speaker and a reader are a part of who they are.

Join us as Margaret Harrison, grade 3 teacher at The Bear Creek School, shares ways to create a home environment that fosters a passion for writing in your child(ren), so they can be great communicators, expressing themselves and their unique ideas in compelling written form.

Margaret Harrison loves teaching at Bear Creek because she may initiate faith-based conversations, pray with her students, and grow in relationship with God alongside her students and colleagues. Some of her favorite hobbies include hiking, rock climbing, reading, and traveling. She has lived in Sweden, China, and Greece and has traveled throughout Europe as well.

Margaret holds a B.A. Elementary Education from Central Washington University and an M.Ed. Elementary Education with a specialization in ESOL from Western Oregon University.

Intended audience: parents with children in preschool through grade 4.

Tools for Success is a seminar series at which Bear Creek faculty will speak on a variety of parenting and academic topics. These sessions focus on subjects ranging from preschool to college planning.

Visit tbcs.org/success for more information and to RSVP. This event is free and open to the public.
