VR Exhibition: Virtual Bauhaus

Calendar/Event Details

In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Bauhaus, the virtual reality experience Virtual Bauhaus will tour North America. Bauhaus, the iconic school of design, architecture, and applied arts, existed in Dessau, Germany, from 1919 to 1933. In spirit of the Bauhaus, the exhibition uses innovative technology that allows viewers to experience the essence of the Bauhaus, as well as the products, ideas, and general environment of the school right here at the Goethe Pop Up in Seattle.

Visit the Goethe Pop Up between March 15 and April 10 and experience the Bauhaus first-hand. Put on the VR glasses and be transported into the architectural space of the Bauhaus building as it existed in the 1920s. You will be able to explore the school’s central ideas through encounters with its architectural interior, inhabit the dormitories where students lived and worked, engage with an experimental performance in the stage workshop, and ascend the building’s iconic staircase.

Virtual Bauhaus was developed by Goethe-Institut Boston in cooperation with Cologne Game Lab (CGL) at the Technical University Cologne and independent Bauhaus experts.

Presented by the Goethe-Institut Boston as part of Wunderbar Together: The Year of German-American Friendship 2018/19 – an initiative funded by the German Federal Foreign Office, implemented by the Goethe-Institut, and supported by the Federation of German Industries (BDI).

Exhibit times: 10am-6pm, Mo-Fr
