October 2023

Fall has arrived in the Northwest; school is in full-swing (here are some tips if you are picking a preschool), Halloween costumes are appearing on store shelves and the nights are growing longer.

In this month’s issue, we take a close look at articulation disorders and offer tips for supporting your child at home. We also offer some great suggestions for turning parenting challenges into opportunities for connection and growth. Since nothing connects people quite like laughter, we’ve put together a list of 10 silly Halloween pranks to pull on your kids that will have you all giggling with delight.

Zip up those rain jackets and head outside to these fantastic inclusive playgrounds for kids of all abilities. And if you are looking for a fun new destination, head to Fall City, our Neighborhood Spotlight, for some charming farms and yummy food.

However you spend your October (and here are 15 fabulous ways to do so), we hope it delivers all of the good seasonal feels to your family. Don’t forget to check out our annual Learning and NWAIS School Guide issues while you’re at it!
