Kelowna, British Columbia

Thirty beaches beckon families to their shores in Kelowna and West Kelowna. Should inclement weather force you indoors, the H2O Centre has you covered with a wave pool, water slides, surf simulator and river run. After an invigorating swim, a cheese tasting at Carmelis Goat Cheese is in order, followed by a scoop of gelato (made from goat’s milk). The four-legged critters that supplied these treats mill around outside.

Need some exercise? Hop on the Oyama Ziplines or putt 18 holes at Scandia Golf and Games. If you yearn for the sites and sounds of nature, bike, run or walk the trails of the Mission Creek Greenway.

The Kangaroo Creek Farm is unlike anything my granddaughter and I have ever experienced. Try to schedule your visit on a weekday to avoid the crowds and you’ll have a better chance to interact with and possibly feed the kangaroos, capybaras (world’s largest rodent!) and goats.

Eat: Smack Dab Manteo, Train Station Pub
